5 Ways to Get Party Ready This New Years Eve

5 Ways to Get Party Ready This New Years Eve

Designer Ripley Rader has jokingly diagnosed herself with "reverse body dysmorphia," which is how she explains her unwavering self confidence. We just call that totally admirable. Literally everything about this woman is sparkly and bubbly — and by that we mean figuratively and literally in that she has a deep love of sequins and champagne. A visit to her Hollywood live/work space is never without a fun playlist, sweets, and spirits (it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?). And then there's her very own photobooth, a corner set up with a glittery, prom-style backdrop and decorations that practically begs for guests to jump in for a full-on photoshoot.

This probably explains why we've asked Ripley for her best advice on getting ready for New Years Eve. Well, that and the fact that the jumpsuits, dresses, tops, and pants from her made-in-LA line — which have been worn by the likes of Amy Schumer, Felicity Huffman, and Alessandra Ambrosio — are absolutely ideal for celebrations. Below find her top 5 tips for getting party perfect (spoiler: there's sparking wine involved).

1.  Comfort Is Key

The most important thing for me is feeling like the most fabulous woman in the room and that usually comes from wearing something that's chic but also comfortable.  I need to be able to eat and dance.  I think there's a lot of sexiness that comes from ease.

2. Gather Your Tribe

I always have the most fun when my girl gang is together.  A great idea is to pick a house and get ready together early, pop open a great bottle of bubbly and have a little party before the party!  It gets everyone into the holiday spirit and extends the fun!

3. Don't Overthink Your Styling

In regards to makeup and hair, I say keep it simple, but fabulous.  I call up-do's "Bad Mood Hair", so I'd wear your hair down so you can flip it when you cut a rug on the dance floor!  Whether you're rocking sequins or a chic LBJ (little black jumpsuit), throw on some lashes and a great matte lip and you're good to go.

4. No Pantylines, No Problems

Wear correct undergarments — or nothing at all! Nothing messes up the line of a piece more than ill-fitting underpinnings.  Panty lines are for amateurs; look at yourself from the front and the back to make sure everything is clean and sleek!

5. Don't be afraid to be fabulous

In my world, I don't believe you can ever be over-dressed.  If you rock it, it's perfect.  It's all about confidence.  Wear the sequins!  Wear the outfit that makes you feel like the hottest woman in the room...and then you will be.
